COTTAGE EXTENSION AND ALTERATIONS

We obtained planning permission in 2019 to add an extension and alter the layout of this brick cottage just outside the bounds of the South Downs National Park. The extension will be clad in natural timber cladding to complement the brick with a clay tile roof to match the existing roofs.

The rearrangement of spaces internally improves the kitchen, utility, entrance and bathrooms, while the modest and in-keeping side  extension replaces the conservatory with a far more all-year-round usable dining space. This proposal includes glazing the sides of the  existing porch and adding another front door to create a thermal buffer for the main entrance, especially effective in the cold winter months.

Upstairs, the internal layout rearrangement involves removing a staircase and improving access to all first floor rooms. In the roof space of the proposed side extension is room for a generous en-suite bathroom.
