Sustainability Overview

Planning has been granted to externally insulate, extend and alter this small brick and rendered bungalow.

The layout of the bungalow will be transformed to create a 3 bed house with a study mezzanine. A timber clad green roof extension to one side allows for the improved layout by widening the ground floor. A large south facing kitchen/dining/living room will make full use of the increased width of the house creating a much more open feeling living area and will have view into the garden through a large bi-folding door and window seat. new bay windows to the north bedrooms will bring more light into the rooms in the morning and evening.

Wrapping the house in Rigid Woodfibre External Wall Insulation, and adding insulating the roof and floor with natural insulation will significantly improve the bungalow's thermal performance and a new Air Source Heat Pump will replace the old gas boiler reducing the Carbon footprint required to heat the dwelling. As part of the upgrade the airtightness of the building will be greatly improved through careful detailing and ventilation will be provided by a new Mechanical Ventilation system with Heat Recovery (MVHR) which will provide fresh air with minimal loss of heat in winter.
